Springdale Presbyterian Church
Order of Worship for August 16, 2026

Prelude Rise Up, O Church of God, Warren Broome, organist

Welcome and Announcements

Moment for Mission

Opening Prayer

Call to Worship
Pastor: The Lord is our chosen portion and our cup. God holds our lot. The boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places for us; we have a goodly heritage.
All: We bless the eternal God, who gives us counsel and instruction day and night. We will always keep our God in our sight; because God is always at our side, we will not be shaken or defeated.
Pastor: Therefore our hearts are glad and our souls rejoice! Our bodies also rest secure, because you do not abandon us, in life or in death.
All: You show us the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy, comfort, and blessing forever.

Opening Hymn #301 Let Us Build a House

Prayer of Confession
Liturgist: Loving God, we confess that we often limit our compassion. Like the disciples, and even Jesus himself sometimes, we grow impatient with or ignore the cries of those who trouble our comfort.
All: We wish the broken and the outsider would just go away so we could rest in peace. We draw lines of who is worthy of grace, forgetting the vastness of your mercy, and that all people are your beloved people.
Liturgist: Transform us. Break down our prejudices. Show us how to deconstruct counterproductive old assumptions, and how to look beyond simple habits of comfort, and enable us to reconstruct ourselves to be the people, the congregations, the country, that you call us to be in this moment.
All: Heal our unbelief. Teach us a love that reaches across every boundary and across every comfort zone. Open our eyes and our hands to serve all who call upon you in need, and in the always-renewing ways that you set before us.

Assurance of Pardon
Pastor: Together, let us proclaim the good news: All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

Response #585 Glory to God (verse 1, English and Spanish)

Passing of the Peace
One: The Peace of Christ be with you.
All: And also with you

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever,  Amen.

Amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, Amen, amen, amen, amen.
